Lost Poster
I've seen a poster where a person is looking for their lost pet or an
important thing but never until yesterday had I seen a poster for
someone who has lost themself.
I came across this on my bikeride home from work yesterday. It can be
seen at the corner of Ocean & Redondo.

Fairplay, the Douche, get's owned.
Remember the guy from survivor who told everyone his grandmother was dead for sympathy? Well... he sure did get owned by Danny Bonadouche the other night at the Reality Awards. If I had some annoying guy humping my chest, I'd do the same thing.

Cut & Paste
This weekend was pretty exciting for me.. I entered myself into the Cut & Paste Digital Design Tournament and got an email saying that I was invited to the testing round. Sweet! I was super excited. We got our theme early and I came up with my idea and practiced.
Why did I practice? Well... we had 15 minutes to put the artwork together from scratch. The only outside thing we could use were fonts and a digital camera to capture any objects present.
I threw it down at the test round but I have no idea how many other people were there.. don't know how well everyone did... who knows. I find out wednesday.
I'll post the design later. Somehow.

London 2012
This is an interesting one for me... At first glance, the logo is extremeley unconventional considering the traditions and the legacy behind the Olympics. This does not mean that walls cannot be broken and new ideas shouldn't be considered. Not by any means! I'm all for that. Challenging the design status quo. Look at the 1968 Olympics in Mexico. The design system was beyond its years.
So.. Now we're faced with a look into the future which to me looks like a glimpse back to '92. This seems to be the trend in a lot we see.. Especially this look coming from England. Look at the music.. this electro rap/pop sound. If you look at MIA and the look of the logo and the animation that the London committee has put together, you'll see what I'm saying.
At this point.. I don't know if I'm into the look yet or not. I do think it's daring and bold which is good and bad. The traditionalists may not be partial, but it may open the games up to a brand new audience. Ask me again in 5 years when the Olympics actually happen.. I'll be 32. Yikes.

Sidewalk Chalk in Belmont Shore
So, this weekend was a lovely weekend. My good friend Carin informed me, a few weeks ago, about the Belmont Shore Sidewalk Chalk Art competition and I thought that it would be fun to enter and just spend a Sunday drawing.
We got there on what was an overcast Sunday morning and found our plot of land for the day. Taped the paper down, whipped out my all graphite pencil and began to draw. Drip, drip later, the rain started to come down, so I pulled my big paper off the sidewalk and slapped in on the window of the store I was in front of. Eventually, the drizzle subsided and we had sun for the majority of the day.
A lot of my friends and co-workers came to cheer us on. It was a fabulous time! To finish it all off, too, Carin won Best in Show and I got First Runner Up! Who would've thought that we both would take the two highest spots?!
Well, I was stoked and here's some pictures: The top picture is Carin's piece which won Best in Show.

Dance Excellence 2007
Some various comps for the DE 2007 merchandise. The theme this year is "BE". This is where I'm heading. These are NOT finals.
P.S. Annie, I love the look of the nametag. My favorite merch pieces have the same look as the nametag, too. :)
Extra note: The are NOT my models. I'm too cheap for that. However, the garments are the garments that are going to be used. All purchased from American Apparel. I just needed someone in the clothes (that I don't have in my possession) to put the art on. :)

Oh, bastard comp
Holly Angel
This is a 'mostly-finished' piece that I did for my excellent friend Michael Cartwright. He wanted an illustration done from a picture of his girlfriend, Holly Angel.

New York City
Before I left to go to New York to work at the IAJE convention, I had a conversation with a client in New York and she mentioned that they were going to be getting the subway campaign pieces I did framed. I made it my mission while I was there to get some pictures. I actually found one of the posters while riding the E train. I saw it whiz by my window at 23rd street. So I jumped out, grabbed a picture and waited for the next train. It was nice to see my work up.
